Garlic - kills germs and allows mucus to discharge, this is a must for the healing process. Take a oil-free garlic capsuel 3 times a day. I prefer making a soothing cup of garlic soup, it gets straight to the bloodstream
Licorice root tea - has an anesthetizing effect that will soothe irritated throats and relieves coughs.
